𝑴𝒚 𝒕𝒉𝒐𝒖𝒈𝒉𝒕𝒔:
It's no secret that Loreth Anne White is one of my favourite thriller authors. Her books never fail to grip me from the very beginning and with this book it was no different!
While I appreciated the way the well-hidden secrets and truths gradually came to light, in typical White style, I would have loved to know the fate of some of the characters in the book. They just seemed to vanish from the story at one point! In particular, the death of one of the characters was not satisfactorily explained, which made me think this might be the start of a series.
But all in all a solid thriller which had all the right ingredients that I love in a crime thriller!
𝑨𝒃𝒐𝒖𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒃𝒐𝒐𝒌:
The story starts with a bang when human bones are discovered near a ski resort on Hemlock Mountain in Canada.
Homicide Detective Jane Monroe, heavily pregnant, has been struggling to come to terms with her husband's disappearance ever since he went hiking last autumn! Now she just wants to find out who these human remains belong to so she can give the family the closure they deserve.
But things get complicated when the murder case is linked to the disappearance of a young girl in the 1970s. She was one of the Shoreview Six, a group of teenagers who are now all prominent members of society. Did one of them get away with murder? And what are they willing to do to prevent the truth from coming out?
