I thought this was the best book of the installment, although the heroine was probably the less beautiful of the lot. The hero was wonderful and I even enjoyed the fact that he was forty years old. It was refreshing to read about a mature man with teenage children. I thought the whole setting was beautiful and the love-story between the two was endearing. Can't wait to read more from Byrne. She's become one of my favourite authors of late.

This was written just as clever as the previous book. This author is quickly becoming one of my favorites. Her heroes are broken, tortured men who don't believe in redemption. But somehow they manage to fall in love with women who make them whole again. Putting an assasin in the role of a romance hero was very daring. There was a real risk that he was not capable of being seen as anything else. But the author managed to make him human near the end. So all was well.

Ok, so Kerrigan Byrne is probably my favourite Historical Romance Writer out there at the moment. I'm sure she even writes interesting shopping-lists. And this was her fabulous debut novel. The author has a great way of writing and I surely learned a few new words I'd never heard before. The story was compelling and highly interesting (the title of the book has nothing to do with it BTW). The hero, being a lord of the underworld, was perfectly portrayed as a disturbed and lonely man - my only complaint was that I'd have liked the book to be at least 100 pages longer so that their relationship could have been more fleshed out. Very good!
