This was my first book by Ruth Ware and it definitively won't be my last. I'd give this ten stars if I could because it ticked all the right boxes. Creepy? Check. Haunted house? Check. Children saying or drawing strange things about ghosts? Check. Great twist? Check.

Having been an au-pair many years ago, I kind of emphasised with the protagonist Rowan. Alone in this huge house, looking after three children, the parents on a business trip or a week. Every time night fell and Rachel put the children to bed, I started getting uncomfortable because I just knew something would happen.

If you haven’t read this yet, you are missing out on a great mystery, thriller, ghost-story! Leave whatever you are doing and pick this up now! I enjoyed it immensely!

A solid 5 stars!
