This was such an awesomely written crime novel. I haven’t read such good dialogue for quite some time. The tone of the novel is exactly what you would expect from the hot and swampy Bayou Country. Gritty, dark and atmospheric this novel touches some heavy topics such as police corruption, sexual harassment, domestic violence and of course brutal homicide. Each chapter leaves you craving the next, as the author navigates from one character to the other, leaving you with cliffhangers so that you fly through the pages wanting desperately to know what is happening to the character in the last chapter. Can’t believe I’d never heard of this author before! Has anyone read her? This is the second book of a series but can be read as a stand-alone.

5 stars!
