First of all, I would like to thank Avon Books and Netgalley for gifting me with this ARC in exchange for an honest review. This is the second mystery novel in the Paige Northwood series. I haven't read the first book but didn't have any trouble reading this as a stand-alone. The story starts off with a bang once the body of a teacher for deaf children is discovered in the snow. At the same time one of the students residing at the same school goes missing and our main character, Paige, is called in by the police to serve as interpreter.
What follows is a full investigation of what could have happened that fateful night. While each student and member of staff is being interrogated (multiple times) we learn a little more about Paige's backstory and personal life.
I felt the story moved forward very slowly, switching from the night of the murder to the present day and after a while, I confess I kind of lost interest. Nothing much happened in the way of inciting incident or twists, so it all fell a little flat, to be honest. We soon discover that nobody is telling the truth and the reason for them lying just wasn't convincing. I felt many things that happened to Paige weren't relevant to the actual story and certain behaviour just didn't seem realistic.
3 stars!
