This was such a chilling read, you guys! It’s what I call the true definition of a Psychological Thriller. We follow Leah, a nurse who is hired to look after Isabel in a high-security facility. Isabel is charged with brutally killing a 6-yr old when she was only fourteen. But the more Leah comes to know the gentle-hearted Isabel who is obsessed with birds (she takes care of a Magpie she calls Pepsi) the more she is convinced of her innocence. So she decides to investigate.

But while you’re reading you get a strange feeling something is not right. Inexplicable things happen, like Leah going to sleep in bed and wakening at the Kitchen table. How did she get there? There are many other little episodes that literally raised my hackles. You know something is off, but you can’t put y our finger on it. It’s the stuff spooky reads are made of! 👀

However, there is one letdown, and it’s that this is part of a trilogy. You could read it as a stand-alone but if you want all the answers the author invites you to read the other two books too. Would I have read this, had I known? Probably not. Do I feel sorry I did? Absolutely not.

I might just dive into her other books, but I’ll have to cut my tbr list first!

4 stars!
