I guess mine is going to be an unpopular opinion, but this book did not live up to all the hype for me.
Definitively slow-paced and nothing really happening for at least two-thirds of the book. Then it got really weird. Now I'm a Stephen King fan, so weird is my thing. Yet I found this book lacked what King knows how to do bet. Tell a gruesome story with a suspenseful pace and interesting characters. This had neither. There was not one moment during the book that I felt the tension building or I fought to keep awake to finish reading the book. It was just all very slow, and except for Noemi, the main character, everyone else seemed very one-dimensional. I was not spooked, just mildly sickened by certain scenes.
But this is just me and I don't want to put anyone off reading it.
I gave it three stars because the idea was good, a shame the author did not have the ability to deliver.
