I was a little concerned when I started this book because the first was so good, and I felt the author could never live up to it!

I shouldn’t have worried!😉

This is the second book in the Tom Nolan series... it connects directly to the first book ‘Bad People’ but is set almost a year after those macabre events.

I’d strongly advise you to read Bad People first to get a better understanding and more satisfaction from the ending!

In this second book, we follow DC Tom Nolan once again, while he runs against time to catch a new serial killer. Someone is killing women in their own homes, painting their faces and dressing them like old Victorian dolls. (I won’t even mention the eyes). I mean all you have to do is glance at the cover to get an idea.

While all this is happening DC Nolan is still obsessed with finding the Ragman, from book 1, who is still out there ready for a showdown...

I have to hand it to the author, he certainly doesn’t shrink back from writing the most grisly and gory crime scenes, reminiscent of the movie Se7en....and yet the reader cannot divert their eyes from the page, because the story is so riveting.

I just love the main character, Tom. He’s the average guy you’d hardly notice, almost awkward and a little overweight and yet a genius in his field!

On a final note I’d like to thank Craig Wallwork for almost sending me into hyperventilation during a particular scene where I kept mumbling to myself ... ‘no, no, no this can’t be happening, this can’t be happening....’ 𝘯𝘪𝘤𝘦𝘭𝘺 𝘥𝘰𝘯𝘦!

If you love dark, police procedural thrillers with gruesome crimes and surprising twists don’t miss out on these 2 books!

4,5 stars from me!
