I'm not quite sure how to review this book. I wouldn't define it as a thriller, nor a police procedural investigation, as the story centres around the aftermath of child abuse. It's a very thought-provoking story that was not too disturbing to read. The author insinuates certain traumatic events without detailing them which I was thankful for. The psychological journey this poor kid goes through to survive such a horrendous crime was heart-breaking to read. If you're looking for a crime novel or a thriller this is not the right book for you. This is the story of an 11 yr old victim of child abuse and his family and how their love, patience and support help him find his way back to the living. It touched my heart on many levels although I found it to be very slow-paced. 3,5 stars out of 5.
