Thank you #netgalley and Aria & Aries for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review!
Do you ever start a book and know after only a few pages that’s it’s going to be a 5-star read? That’s what happened when I started this book.
As soon as I’d finished the prologue I was hooked. I just couldn’t stop reading until I knew what had happened to the Pine family. I chewed my nails and gasped and cringed and ultimately felt a tug around my heart when I reached the end. At its core, it’s a heartbreaking story of a family torn apart by a hideous crime.
I had a hunch about one of the characters being the culprit halfway through the book but I still didn’t understand WHY... and trying to put an answer to that question is what drove me to devour this book.
The story shifts to different perspectives and timelines and I particularly enjoyed the snippets of the Netflix documentary that gives you an insight into the crime that led to Danny’s conviction.
Quick blurb:
A Family of 4 is found dead during a vacation in Tulum, Mexico! The death seems to be caused by a gas leak while they were all in their vacation home. Their son Matt, a college student in NY, is left to give the devastating news to his big brother Danny, who is serving time for having allegedly killed his girlfriend 7 years ago.
But has Matt’s family truly succumbed to a banal accident? And why did his little sister send him a photo of their father in front of a bar just before dying?
Everybody knew for years now that Matt’s father was obsessed with trying to prove Danny’s innocence, going so far as participating in an infamous Netflix True Crime documentary, doing the family more harm than good...
Could his father have been onto a new lead? Was their death set up to look like an accident?
Sarah Keller, the FBI agent assigned to the case, is used to following her gut and right now it’s screaming ‘foul play’.
#EveryLastFear certainly lived up to the hype for me! It’s a must-read for any thriller/true crime lover!
